Why do you have it?

Some people live for it, some people have it to stop them dying.

I definitely fall into the living for it camp.

This morning at Achieve Bootcamp, we spent pretty much the whole session talking about it.  Obviously, here was some exercise thrown in too ;)

Food.

It's more than just fuel.

Somebody in the US has invented a complete nutrition shake that is basically a blend of essential nutrients.  Reports state the taste is rank and the consistency isn't great but it will keep you alive in times of need.

There are some diets in the UK that are a little like that.  Others that make food a thing to be scared about over doing.

Diets in general have a negative impact on our relationships with food, we see treats and rewards as something bad.  All the healthy stuff apparently tastes bland, it really doesn't have to; we have written a couple of recipe books that are based around taste and quality.

Food should be enjoyed, not feared.

The balance is important between real foods that have nutrients and pseudo-foods that lack any nutrient value.

Just talking about some meals and restaurants this morning made us all hungry.  That's what it's meant to be like.

We want bring the excitement back in to eating and get digestive juices flowing at the thought of a meal.

We don't want our members eating cardboard in the hope they will lose weight.  We're experimenting with a couple of strategies this month that will make dieting more flexible and enjoyable to follow.

My aim is to replace the word dieting with eating.  It should be that simple but the media and unfortunately my industry have complicated beyond measure.

Are you a food for fuel or food because it's awesome type person?  Let me know.
