Over the past few weeks we've been watching Special Forces - Ultimate Hell Week with Freddie Flintoff.
It follows a group of men and women who are put through some special forces training activities from around the world. They were properly beasted, both
mentally and physically over the course of 2 weeks; some of it looked fun, some of it looked horrendous.
Competitors were kicked out along the way by the various drill instructors due to attitude, not completing tasks, injury and anything they thought did not suit a member of the special forces.
It concluded last night with the British SAS.
The winner was a girl. She completed every task with 100% effort and only struggled to keep up with the guys when the task involved carrying heavy things. She was strong but only weighed a little over 50kgs, proportionally she was always at a loss.
Her attitude and mindset was one of the reasons she was selected as the overall winner. An inspiration to all girls who feel like they can't complete with the guys.
Freddie was talking to the SAS instructor and noted that he didn't b0llock the
participants. His answer summed up how I feel about our services perfectly.
It went something along the lines of -
The SAS approach is more understated. The people that turn up are expected to be fit, to be self disciplined.
There's no shouting and screaming, the people that need that shouldn't be in special forces.
Who'd of thought that I had a special forces style attitude.
I've never been somebody who feels the need to shout at our members. I feel that
as adults they don't that. It's possible to motivate and more importantly inspire people to work hard and towards there goals without raising my voice.
I'm the same with my martial arts students, I have an instructor voice but that doesn't mean shouting. Just a clear, slightly louder tone to break through the chaos ;)
Our members work hard because they are committed to achieving their goals and they enjoy what we do. If you would like to join a group like that you can apply here - www.achieveboocamp.co.uk/application
