My Dad died 4 years ago today.
I'm not particularly sad, obviously I would rather he was alive but he had a good innings and we had a good relationship. I don't feel like I have anything I need to say or do before he died.
Fortunately, we had time with him before he died and were guided by the brilliant Macmillan nurses as to when it was likely to be. If your Dad is still around, give him a call and let him know you care.
I'm not writing to gain sympathy but to express a point. He was treated for a bladder infection for 12 months before his GP realised
that a year on antibiotics should really have improved his condition.
That wait meant that prostate cancer had spread, in his case it was too late.
He was too proud and had too much faith in the medical system to speak to me about his symptoms.
It's common, men generally don't talk about their problems with their family or friends.
We don't want to be perceived as weak.
I share so much about myself in the hope that it inspires at least one person to talk to somebody if they are
struggling.
Over the next 30 days I will be running a mini-fitness challenge; a little activity each day for the month of Movember.
You will only be doing 20 minutes maximum and most days will be less than 10 minutes.
We kick off tomorrow, if you would like in, all you have to do is donate £10.00 to www.moro.co/teamachieve
I'll then add you to the Facebook group or email list to get started.
You could even do the challenge with your Dad, all fitness levels will be catered for.
You don't have to be a man to do the challenge, everyone is welcome and your fitness will improve as a result of taking part.
