Sorry for the reduced frequency of blog posts recently. I've been trying to get our kitchen finished before I go off on a little walk up a hill over the Christmas break.
That and the fact I had a 5 day hangover last week following a night of cocktails and dancing. I forgot to follow my hangover reduction plan and really suffered as a
result.
I wasn't particularly rough, I just seemed to lack brain power and any sense of oomph.
I've had a few conversations with people over the past week who were feeling the same, just sans-alcohol.
Struggling with their mojo and finding the motivation to eat well or exercise.
There are too many reasons to mention on why this happens in general and everybody has their own stories behind them.
Some
going right back to something that happened as a child, some a flippant comment in the office last week.
However, there is a tendency for things to get us down more at this time of year.
It's Christmas the season of joy, we're meant to be happy and that poses its own difficulties.
It's dark all of the time. Some of us barely get chance to see day light, that has a major impact on overall health.
It's cold (not
really that cold at the minute though), it's definitely harder to escape the duvet when it feels like your toes might drop off from frost bite the they hit the floor; or maybe I should just let Fran control the heating ;)
There are too many treats around. Especially if you work in an office, cake Friday turns to a bi-daily event, with sweets and biscuits from suppliers and customers thrown in ti the mix. Add that to the mince pies on offer everywhere you go and
sticking to a diet becomes more challenging.
It can be done though and you can do it.
Over the next few posts I'll share strategies to help survive the festive season with minimal damage.

PS A few people have asked me for gift ideas for the fitness based people in their life. I'll put together a list, if there's any sport or activity you want to buy for
in particular let me know.
