TV adverts are making health issues socially acceptable and that will ultimately lead to a bigger issue.
Fran and I very rarely watch live TV anymore, always opting to start the programme a few minutes late and zip past the ads.
Last week the apartment we were staying in only had freeview TV, with no option to fast-forward through the ad-breaks.
It was shocking.
If you pee yourself, it's ok there's a pad for
that.
If you get heartburn, it's ok there's a drink for that.
Diahorrea, it's ok there' a pill for that.
Constipated, it's ok there's a pill for that, some are even 'natural'.
Painful periods, don't worry you can take a pill for that.
Headaches, migraines, back pain there's a pill or pad that can fix them all.
However, they don't fix them. They pills, potions and pads merely cover up the
problem and allow you to continue with your life blissfully ignorant to anything that could really help you solve the issue for good.
Most of the above can be 'cured' with nutrition and being properly hydrated. Unfortunately, there's not much profit in advertising vegetables and drinking water.
You also have to take responsibility for your issues, which takes a lot more effort than popping a pill.
Stress incontinence shouldn't be the norm
for mums; there are solutions. Fran has had amazing success with clients using a combination of nutrition, hypopressives and modified pilates.
I regularly help people move away from long term back pain, headaches and other joint issues that they have ben putting up with for years because their GP had told them it was 'normal' to have aches and pains at their age.
It is not normal to be in pain.
Do yourself a favour
and stop covering up the health issues you have with advert-based medicine and speak to somebody who can give you a long term solution to better health.
