That was the question most people asked me last week when I told them what we were doing at the weekend.
I guess my pronunciation of DUathlon wasn't that great.
I do like the idea of a race involving giraffes though, I think it would be pretty cool to see. Maybe people running around with giraffe long hats on trying to knock the leaves of the tress.
A Duathlon is a run, then bike and finally another run. Like a
triathlon but no swimming, which is why Fran agreed to do it :)
A group of Team Achieve went over to Ludlow to do the 'Storm the Castle' event. It's a beautiful part of the country to run and ride around and the finish is through the gates of Ludlow Castle, which adds to the drama of it all.
The course is a bit bumpy and I'm incredibly proud of Fran as she really doesn't like descending on her bike and there are some very steep sections.
Our training for the event took a bit of a back burner when we decided that we would walk the West Highland Way with the dogs for our Wedding Anniversary.
I'm pretty pleased with myself too as I managed to sort of follow my nutrition strategy on race day and finished without feeling like I was going to die, unlike last year.
Throughout the year, we set and take part in different challenges to give our members something to 'train' for.
It makes exercising much more interesting and appealing than simply doing it for exercises sake.
Duathlons, Triathlons, Cycling sportive, half marathons, the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, Mount Snowdon and obstacle races are amongst the list of things we have pencilled in so far.
Our next bootcamp block starts in 2 weeks time, if you want to join a team who do more than just exercise you can find more details at www.achievebootcamp.co.uk
