I married Fran, that decade has flown by and our lives have taken some unexpected turns.
Back then we were out partying most weekends, my major man flu style hangovers have reduced party weekends to a six
monthly occurrence.
On our honeymoon, we spoke about our 10 year anniversary and how we would return to Mauritius with a couple of kids and learn how to sail.
Nature didn't play along with that plan. Our efforts to have our own children are now a distant memory.
We still hope to have children and are in the family finding stage of adoption so hopefully soon.
We could have still gone to
Mauritius for a break but it would have meant leaving our dogs behind.
Instead we're walking the West Highland Way, a hundred mile trek from near Glasgow to the foot of Ben Nevis. The weather wasn't great yesterday but it
could have been a lot worse.
Today we have 12 miles ahead of us before a night in the tent on a remote campsite; if you don't hear from us in the next couple of days we may have been lost to dog soldiers ;)
Today we have had breakfast with the other guests in the b&b, a young couple and an 85 year old man who explained he's doing the walk over 10 days because he has a false hip and he can't walk as fast anymore.
He didn't realise but he gave me a life and relationship goal; I want Fran and I to have the option to walk a long distance path when we're celebrating our 50th anniversary.
I might need a visit to Steve Austin's doctor to keep me moving but we'll do it ;)
When you are following a diet and exercise plan that is right for you, you should be able to keep going no matter what you choose to do in life. For me that's what health and fitness is about. Giving me the option to do whatever hair brained plan or challenge I feel like.
Your body is an amazing thing as George (85years old) has proven to us today, you just have to treat it well.
We can help you do that, www.achievebootcamp.co.uk.
Last week, Fran told me I was her hero which reminded me of a quote from my favourite superhero Dead Pool.
"You don't need to be a superhero to get the girl, the right girl will bring out the hero in you".
