“Everything is better after a good night’s
sleep”.
I don’t know if that is an official quote by some guru, prime minister, philosopher or simply inherently known by us as a species.
There has never been as much information available about health, nutrition, fitness and sleep as there currently is; yet we seem to be in a crisis with the state of our health as a nation.
The problem with so much information is we can get lost in the noise, as I nearly
did at the weekend, struggling to establish what really works and what is a loosely disguised way of somebody selling something.
When it comes to health, I think the thing that has the greatest carryover to every aspect of life is sleep.
Our sleep has been disrupted since our kids moved in nearly 8 years ago. We have spent lots of time experimenting with methods that can help improve how rested we feel in the morning.
I use a tracker to monitor performance and sleep, over the next few days I’ll cover the things you can do to immediately feel more rested, thus making fitness, diet and health goals easier to achieve.
A quick tip for today.
If you are buying a new mattress, go firmer or harder than you feel comfortable on immediately. If you go to soft, there’s nothing you can do to change that.
By erring
on the harder side you can always play around with mattress toppers.
Our bed has a mattress topper on Fran’s side and I slot on to the remaining slice on the original part of the firmer mattress, it works for us both 😉
