The last week went by in a flash.
It was K’s 11th birthday on Friday and the week running up to it were restless.
She struggles with anxiety around events and occasions leading to lots of very early mornings.
As always, we tried to spread the celebrations out so they were less overwhelming.
We went to Cadbury World on Thursday, had some friends over for a BBQ on Saturday and a cousins party at Nanny and Grandad’s on Saturday.
All topped off with some of our close friends asking her to be a bridesmaid on Sunday.
As a result, she is exhausted which has led to some outbursts of emotion and also her struggling to control her appetite.
We all do it.
Reach for sweet treats and carbs when sleep has been less than optimal, especially when you have a full selection of Cadbury’s goodies.
How
do we combat it?
This is true in ourselves and children, fill up on the good stuff first so there’s less room for the treats at the end of the meal and we have a rule about only snacking on fruit between meals.
It works most of the time.
We’ve also focused on trying to get earlier nights and encouraging lie-ins.
What’s your go to carb / sweet treat?
