How old is old?
Or
is old an attitude?
When I was 18, I was at the bar at my Kung Fu instructors 30th birthday party asking my best mate if he thought we would still be able to kick etc when we were 30. 30 seemed such a long way off and it was a genuine question.
I didn’t know many people in their 30’s who were in good physical shape.
I’m pleased to say, I can still kick etc over 30 years later. There are a few more noises
than there used to be and the next morning isn’t always kind but I can still move.
I move better around the park and beach better than most of the “young” dad’s, so maybe I’m still young.
I do prefer an IPA over a lager now and it’s been a long time since I set a sambuka on fire and danced in to the early hours, so maybe I’m old.
Ultimately, it really doesn’t matter.
I try to eat well and
move regularly to give me the ability to keep doing the things I love doing and set a good example to my kids.
If I need a little nap after a hike or a stretch and mobility session after Jitz, it’s worth it.
What “old” things do you enjoy?
What “young” things can you still do?
