I carry a first aid kit around in the car, I
have one in most of my training bags and a couple scattered around the house. I might have a slight issue 😂
I find them to be an insurance policy, I hope I don’t need them at all but they come in handy when I do.
Doing a little strength circuit with a friend the other day, we discussed the problem with strength training. It hurts when you do it, can hurt for a few days after it and you don’t really see any physical benefit unless
you are consistent for a couple of months and look after nutrition and cardio too.
However, as we get older, being stronger is one of the most beneficial aspects of fitness.
You don’t know when you are going to need to be strong but like a first aid kit, it comes in really handy when you do.
Getting up off the floor, catching your kid as they fall, helping somebody else off the floor, and something as simple
as pouring from a full kettle all require a level of strength.
A few press ups and squats in the morning are enough to get you started. Add a set of dumbbells and the options are limitless.
On a similar theme, I’ve started a little side business up via Amazon, selling some products that I’ve personally found useful when out in the mountains and hills hiking. If you ever looked at a kit list for a long distance hike, a survival
blanket is often on the list. The ones I’ve had in my bag for years were essentially massive compactor bags that took up loads of space and were reasonably heavy for something you hope to never use. I bought a modern version and it’s brilliant so invested in some to sell; have a look if you’re in to hiking etc - Survival Bag
