I’m away studying acupuncture for a couple of
days.
It’s only in Nottingham but I left really early to reduce the risk of getting stuck in traffic.
It also meant I arrived at the hotel early enough to grab breakfast.
It was super busy with conference type people and the staff were darting around to meet demand. There seemed to be quite a lot of demand, people who had arrived late for breakfast and were in a moody rush to be served.
When the girl approached to seat me, she looked stressed and expecting more of the same.
I smiled, was kind and asked for breakfast.
As a result, she gave me a complimentary breakfast for taking the time to “see” her.
I wasn’t kind because I thought there was a chance of something free or even to write an email about it, I was kind because I’m kind.
I’ve worked in the service
industry and it can be awesome or ridiculously hard, all depending on who the humans are that you are serving.
If given the choice, be a kind human and you might get free food 😉
