It’s International Self Care Day.
A little reminder to take a little time to be selfish, do something just for you, which then increases your capacity to do more for others.
If you’re not looking after your self / being selfish in a good way, you can find yourself running on autopilot and those around you get a lesser version of you.
If you give yourself a little space and time for you, you get to be your best version of you, for you and those around
you.
Making time for yourself can seem to be a massive challenge.
I’m pretty good, I go to Jiu Jitsu, lake swim, cold dip, train with friends and have breakfast with friends at least once per week.
Fran struggles, always finding something more important to do than taking a nap or giving herself a break. Recently, we have tried to improve that.
She’s started lake swimming, cold
dipping in our ice bath, training and walking with her sister.
I seem to be annoying her less but we’re still in the early days 😉
What could you do to give yourself a little bit of self care? It doesn’t have to take long. Reading a few pages of a good book, a lunchtime walk, an episode of trash tv, a cuddle on the sofa all count if they make you feel good.
