To be nervous, do it anyway.
To be scared, do it anyway.
To be unsure of the outcome, do it anyway.
To feel foolish, do it anyway.
This afternoon, A started some therapy work. The place we went is an hours drive away.
He’s been a bit nervous about starting
and in the car shared some of his concerns; unsure what he would be doing, if he would get upset, would he have to talk about his old family etc.
It was brilliant that he was confident to voice his fears and concerns, so many of us aren’t. We discussed what was likely to happen in the session, that we knew the therapist and had been to the place before and had great fun.
He was a little reassured but knew what I was going to finish
with, I’m that predictable / consistent with this message.
It’s ok to feel a bit wobbly, just do it wobbly. You’ll be alright.
He was. He knew his boundaries going in and expressed those when he felt uncomfortable.
On the way home, he wasn’t ready to discuss it so we had a sing-a-long to our morning playlist. It’s full on hype and happy and made the journey home flyby.
We were
also rewarded with an amazing sunset.
What are you putting off that will make life / work / play easier because it might be scary / uncomfortable / make you feel foolish?
Get it started and you’ll be alright.
