The reason I’m writing a message, running a mile, walking a mile, avoiding my Mum’s sweet drawer and attempting to grow a moustache is to raise awareness of Movember and men’s health issues.
I’ve been cracking on with those things but not really anything specific to Movember causes.
I first got involved with Movember 13 years ago when my Dad
died of prostate cancer. Apparently, it’s one of the most survivable male cancers when caught early.
And there lies the problem, your prostate is a walnut sized organ up your bum and we’ve all heard horror stories of doctors with shovel hands and 12” fingers. The reality is it starts with a simple PSA blood test you can get at your GP or via a charity; I generally go for the latter as it’s easier to book an appointment - I have booked in for 12th December here

If you have a family history of prostate cancer or are black, you should book in if you are over 45. Everybody else can apparently wait until they’re 50.
Although, Sir Chris Hoy is only 48 and by the time he was diagnosed it had spread to his bones and is now terminal, so get in as soon as possible for your first test.
Other steps you can take are checking your balls
regularly, not just a quick rub but checking for changes in the shape, tenderness etc. Ladies, do the same with your boobs.
If anything feels out of the ordinary, don’t assume that it will get better on it’s own, get straight on the phone to the Doc.
