Since my surgery last week, I have muttered the above words too many times to justify a little treat or two.
If I didn’t have the surgery, I would be using my upcoming birthday as the reason.
However, I don’t really believe that we should “deserve” treats. If you want one, have one, if it fits in to your energy requirements and
the goals you are aiming for.
A bit of chocolate, a handful of sweets or a chunk of cake do not make a lean body for summer. A treat or two per day, could simply switch to a treat or two per week and would make a massive difference to the speed I reach my goals.
And as you know, I like things to be simple.
Once I get my birthday out of the way tomorrow and the stitches out of my face at the weekend,
I’ll get back to hitting the basics.
The most important components during the first week will be sleep, breath work and hydration.
Sleep has been poor since the surgery as I have had use extra pillows to keep my head elevated and I can’t sleep on my side comfortably. I’m so looking forward to being stitch-free and getting back to my favourite sleeping position.
We’ve both fell in to the habit of using
screens upstairs too, which before bed isn’t a great way to promote good sleep quality. I can stop that one straight away.
Breath work, I’ll tie in to meditation sessions, which I know help me with mood and clarity.
Hydration tends to be more difficult over the colder months, I don’t carry my bottle around with me as much. Again, a simple fix.
What simple steps could you change to get you closer to your
goals?
