Today is Fatty Thursday according to my Polish friends, I’m sure it has a more official title but I don’t know it and certainly couldn’t pronounce it.
It’s essential the same as Shrovetide Tuesday and falls on the Thursday before it.
The main difference is that Fatty Thursday is about doughnuts rather than pancakes.
If you have yet to try a Polish doughnut it is definitely something worth pursuing; obviously if it fits your current training goals and energy requirements, I always find a way for that to happen 😉
They have lots of different filling options, today we had marmalade and custard, separately I must add. They have a really good chew to them, you certainly feel fulfilled from the sweet treat, rather than the empty needing more feeling from a Krispy Kreme type
donut.
This message ties in to the second basic health tenet of enjoy your life.
You’re unlikely to stick to or be consistent with any plan, fitness or nutrition, long term that you don’t enjoy.
The whole point of being fitter, stronger and healthier as we get a little older is to enhance our quality of that.
I know that I feel less than enhanced when I don’t allow cultural
celebrations centred around tasty food in my life.
Don’t worry if you can’t get to a Polish supermarket this evening, they do sell doughnuts all year round.
