I’ve been slack this year so far with getting in the cold bath, Fran had a couple of weeks off when she was poorly but has been in pretty much every day since mid-November.
I haven’t been over to the lake either and was noticing that my hands are stiffer in the mornings and I was starting to feel other aches and pains.
For me that’s a simple
fix, get the anti-inflammatory effects of cold water.
I knew this a few weeks ago and kept putting it off, I was waiting to get in when Fran does hers. That doesn’t work for me though.
Fran wakes up slowly, gets the kids sorted and potters around doing tasks for the first hour or so. I wake up, do my shakti mat, teeth etc and crack straight in to work or clients.
When I finish my first clients, I
want some food and the thought of getting into the cold bath then just doesn’t inspire me.
As a result, I’ve been slack.
This week, I’ll simply get off my shakti mat and go straight out to the cold bath before starting my day, I’m only doing 3 minutes this week while I build my tolerance back up.
After only a couple of dips I’m already feeling the benefits. That might be psychological / placebo
but I don’t care why I feel better, just that I do.
It’s often the simplest of changes or tweaks that can make a habit consistent.
What could you do that will make something easier to make consistent?
