It’s the United Nations international Women’s Day.
A day that we shouldn’t need, yet we seem to be getting further away from a time when we won’t on a global scale.
I have some amazing women and girls in my life whose actions highlight how resilient they are and their ability to deal with adversity.
I encourage the
girls I teach to know their value and to not accept anything or anybody who tries to devalue them.
I do everything in my power to provide them with opportunities to develop their confidence, integrity, empathy, communication skills and tenacity.
I’m doing it because they are becoming the role models for K, she sees them and gradings and wants to be like them.
In truth, I do the same for the boys I teach too.
The world should be free to explore and achieve whatever you want to achieve without your gender being a contributing factor. If you have the ability to do something you should have the opportunity to try.
As men, we need to provide an environment for the women and girls in our lives to feel safe to explore who they are. To teach our boys how to empower those around us, by our actions and the words we use.
