I’ve had a really full on week.
I had a quarterly meet up with my coach on Friday in Leeds and because I was heading up North, I booked a treatment in Chester on Thursday morning.
Simon is my learning mentor in all things therapy and I had some niggles that were highlighted on a course recently and not resolving.
He broke everything down in to its component parts, unsurprisingly the niggles had an emotional element to them. We spoke about how your body can be primed for injury when your beliefs around what you are about to do aren’t in alignment. Essentially not having your head in the game or doubting your ability sets up the opportunity to fail at the task and injure yourself in the process. Proving yourself right and making the same thing happening again more likely.
How ensuring you listen to your body and maybe allow a little more warm up or preparation time when doubt is around.
Taking advantage of being near Chester, I popped in to see a couple of friends I don’t get / make the opportunity to see enough. We had some good chat’s and a reminder that time is easy when spent with the right people.
Friday was all about mindset and coincidentally was focused on being anti-fragile.
A stage beyond resilience, in martial terms not simply being able to take life’s punches but flowing with them and using them to your advantage.
I got to spend some time with the guys from my accountability group too which is always inspiring.
Saturday, we had our Kung Fu club student of the year awards presentation; rewarding the students who have really shone in their journey. A big water fight to finish was very much
appreciated by all. The bonus of which was I bought some water pistols we have played with in our garden.
They haven’t touched the heat of the last two days though and I’ve just had to have an evening cold bath to bring some comfort to my world.
What have you done to cope with the heat wave?
