Driving in this tiny little car.
I had a little knock in my car in May and it went in for repair this morning, my courtesy car is a little Fiat 500.
I take up quite a lot of space in it, thankfully the kids are only small so they have enough room in the back.
I felt a bit nervous on the A46 for the first couple of
miles as my usual car is a reasonable size, going past lorries didn’t fill me with confidence.
I soon got used to it though and it’s actually really fun to drive.
A conversation I have regularly with people who are nervous about starting a new programme, rehab exercises or even new dishes in a restaurant follows a similar theme.
It’s okay to be nervous about starting a new thing but you should get started anyway.
Within a few exposures to the thing you were nervous about, you’ll generally find that it wasn’t as bad as expected and might even enjoy it.
That is pretty much guaranteed if you start something with a friend, you’ll have more accountability to keep going too.
I’ve written lots of times about my joy of martial arts, both studying and teaching, I very rarely struggle to get to class because I know I’ll see my mates and have some fun;
fitness is a side effect of being in the room.
Fran is really committed to eating lots of salad and vegetables, as a result I get to eat lots of salad and vegetables. Sometimes, she’ll prepare a fish dish that I’m not sure about, I’ll try it anyway and as a result of that A now loves mackerel etc.
On a side note, when I went to my Mum’s for lunch earlier somebody managed to block my car door when they parked. A benefit of me
training regularly in Jiu Jitsu was that I could fold myself across from the passenger side to contort my legs under the steering wheel. K was most amused 🤣
Any type of fitness you do should have some real world carry over to make life a little easier, if you need help planning what to do, we’re here for you.
