Time actually start with the useful information to get started on improving your health.
Not that the previous steps of being aware of your body and mind, and adding some fun to your life aren’t important.
It’s just that the action required for those is a more long time thing.
In my experience and I have
been doing this for over 29 years now, the key to improving your health has to start with rest and recovery and most essentially sleep.
Poor sleep, literally affects every aspect of your health; hormones, brain chemistry, emotions, food choices, energy levels and everything in between.
I think our 24 hour society and the ability to interact at anytime of the day is a major factor in poor quality sleep. I purposefully wrote quality then,
quality trumps quantity.
The number one method to improve sleep quality starts with my favourite word - consistency.
Having a consistent sleep / wake cycle is vital. That is, aiming to be in bed ready to sleep at the same time each night and getting up at the same time each morning, within a 30 minute window. In an ideal world that would cover a 7-9 hour span.
We do this for our little ones, yet see
being a grown up as a reason to ignore it.
Think about your own sleep routine and how much it varies, what can you do to make it more consistent?
