I bought a cheesecake yesterday, not uncommon for me to be fair but the reason I bought one yesterday was not purely because of my love of cheesecake.
Yesterday the reason was simply, it was reduced. Meaning it went out of date yesterday, it was beyond its best inn other words. £1.00 for a full cheesecake from the co-op, bargain.
However, cheesecake isn't in my daily nutrition rules. There was no reason to reward or treat myself (although remember we're not dogs so shouldn't use food as a reward), yet I still bought it because it was on offer.
I have spoken to so many people who have fell of the wagon because 'it was on offer'. I've even picked up a Rustlers microwave burger in Tesco because it was 10p, I've never had one
and don't own a microwave but it was a bargain. One of those burgers goes agains pretty much everything I believe about nutrition and health but I was tempted because it was on offer. I didn't buy it but the psychology of a bargain fascinates me.
It's a reason why diets per se don't work. They are based around restriction and not health. When there is a law of restriction we see a bargain as a treat
and go for it anyway. Then feel guilt afterwards.
Which is one of the reasons we stopped being so strict with our clients and members. We explain the rues and how much you can achieve if you follow them 100% but we're happy to meet them where they are ready to start and guide them through with bullying or feelings of guilt when mistakes are made.
Saying that, we
will be running a 'September Reset' for everyone who joins our next block. We all go a little off the rails over the Summer break and our members with kids struggle with being out of routine.
The "Reset-ember Challenge" is aimed at restoring good habits quickly, getting back in to a routine and dropping the summer muffin top.
Fran's putting together a 5 day
juice cleanse to get our long term members started. New members will be guided through The Real Food Plan and will take the 5 day juice cleanse at a later date.
You can apply to join us for September here -
