Have you ever wanted to be a Wolf?

Published: Fri, 09/12/14

Last weekend, Team Achieve took part in the Autumn Wolf Run, we have done several of their events and they are always great fun.

It's something for our members to train towards that is a little more interesting than a standard 10k run.  It is a challenge for all aspects of fitness and also a chance to confront some fears in a controlled environment.

I'm not a massive fan of heights but will always 'do' the cargo net to push myself to it.

One of our members isn't a great swimmer and was really worried about the lake swim.  She didn't hold back and confronted her fear of the water and got in, the temperature took her breath away and brought her fears back to the surface.  She got back out without swimming across but showed so much bravery by even making it past the waters edge.

So many people that we meet are afraid to take the first steps to confronting their fears.  We can't make them go instantly, they are there for a reason but the more we expose ourselves to them the less of a threat they are perceived to be until eventually we can get past them.

Some of our members were scared to take the steps to join us initially because they were worried that they would be the most unfit or the biggest person there.  Sometimes they are right.  Sometimes they are wrong.  In every case we prove that it doesn't matter, we support them and take them from where they are now to where they want to be or at least on the path in the right direction.

We have entered Team Achieve in to the Winter Wolf Run too on Saturday 1st November 2014, we provide support for our members around the whole course.  It makes it more fun that way :)

Two of our members didn't even get chance to think about their fears, they only decided to join us during a spin class an hour before the event when they saw we had a couple of spare tickets.  They go straight in the car and headed over and had an amazing time while getting covered in mud and sliding down a soapy slope.
