No man likes to admit it but ...

I'm a Mummies boy.

Below is a picture crossing the finishing line of The Huntsman Triathlon on Sunday a mere 1 hour 20 minutes after the winner.

When I called my Mum to let her know that I was safe and home, she asked me if I had won.  Such was her faith in me that I will always try my best and because I do these events and my job is fitness I should be able to win.

She was really worried when I took part in the Extreme Triathlon the past 2 years because she had heard that people can die.  Fran kept her informed for me over the course of the day that I was safe and well.

She called me on the morning of the start of Le Tour de France, I was in a car on the way up to Harrogate to watch the finish of the first stage.  When I told her where I was going, she assumed I was taking part as a rider and told me that I should stop doing these stupid things.

She had no doubt in her mind that it was possible for me to take part in the most gruelling bike race on the planet.

Whenever we go away or take part in an event, I always check in with my Mum to let her know we've arrived or that I have finished safely.  I think it's a little reassurance for both of us and lets us know that everything is cool.

Our Team Achieve members do the same, not with their Mum's (although they might), they send us their food diaries and meal plans for the week.  Even when they have it nailed and don't need our assistance with their food, they send them in for that bit of reassurance that they are on the right track.

Jus a quick check in by email or a little chat after the session.  Knowing somebody has got your back makes achieving your goals easier.

Somebody to turn to or text at weak times walking past the coffee and cake shop.

We only have two Achieve Bootcamp blocks before this year is over.  Our December camp is all about damage limitation, our next one is the your last chance to really make a difference to your shape and relationship with food before the party season starts.

You can apply for a place at - http://www.achievebootcamp.co.uk/when/application-form/
