Time to MAN up!

Published: Tue, 10/21/14

It's getting to the time of year that we offer all men a chance to become more MAN.

Every November, we take part in Movember.  Movember is an awareness campaign for male health issues; particularly prostate and testicular cancers.

My Dad died 4 years years ago next week, he lost his battle against prostate cancer.  His GP missed lots of the signs that he had an issue and treated him with antibiotics for nearly 12 months for an infection that turned out to be cancer.

Like many men, my Dad didn't talk about any health problems he was having, even though it is my role to help people improve their health.  It's a common problem and unfortunately not limited to the older generation.

It just doesn't seem socially acceptable for guys to talk above their health, it can be deemed a weakness.  It's one of the reasons that I discuss everything so openly in my emails, I hope to inspire at least one person with every message to make a change.

Earlier this year, I wrote about what was going on in my head regarding the sadness and grief of our fertility problems.  Male suicide is still the primary killer for young males, yet nobody is talking about their problems.

Movember gives us a chance to raise awareness and make it more socially acceptable to talk about our problems.

During the month of Movember, men are encouraged to grow a moustache and go a bit 70's with it all.  It encourages people to ask why and spark up a conversation to find out more about the cause.

Each year we offer all men the opportunity to join our Achieve Bootcamps for a £20.00 donation to Team Achieve's Movember page and to commit to growing their MO for the month.

We'll offer prizes for the best Team Mo.

If you would like to support Team Achieve's Movember, you can join us here - mobro.co/

Girls can join to show their support but unfortunately the MO-offer is strictly for the guys.
