Help

Published: Fri, 11/14/14

It's ok to ask for help.

Sometimes the people you ask are too busy to hep immediately, sometimes they can't help at all but you will never know unless you ask.

Yesterday was the funeral of my best friends Nan, it was a nice service and everything went as well as funerals etc can.

Speaking with his Mum (my second Mum) at the wake, she told me that she had flooded the kitchen at his granddad's new house plumbing in a washing machine.  I asked why they didn't call me to do it.  She answered that they thought I would be too busy and that they would be able to cope.

I admit to being busy and sometimes letting work get in the way of social occasions, however, I will go out of my way to find the time to help my family.  I consider my friends family as my own, I never had a Granddad of my own (violins playing gently in the background) and consider Frank to be the closest person I have to one.

I switched my diary around to go over last night and get it sorted.  When I arrived, I had a different job.  Frank had fallen the previous night and was struggling to stand, they wanted me to assess him rather than calling an ambulance first.  They didn't want to bother anyone and rather than calling me to go around earlier waited until the evening with him in pain.

I sent him to the hospital and thankfully there is no major injury and he is back home this afternoon ready for me to sort out the washing machine.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a common issue.  People don't ask for help just in case it puts somebody else out and they don't want to be a burden.

Don't be scared or too proud to ask for help.  Most people are nice and will do all they can to help you.

We do our best to help our members get to their goals.  Answering a text from a supermarket to check on an ingredient is a common weekend activity for the Team Achieve coaches, a little reminder that a session is on when someone starts to waiver.

Small things by themselves but we feel are massively important to our members.

I thank everyone who takes the time to read my emails and would like to let you know I'm here to help.  I feel it is my life's purpose - to have a positive impact on the health and fitness of everybody I common in to contact with.

If there is anything you would like me to cover in these emails, let me know and I'll do my best to answer your questions.
