Fran missed bootcamp this morning, she just couldn't get the umphh together to leave the house to exercise.
Initially she felt guilty about it (guilt is an emotion we try to avoid around exercise and food with our members) but justified missing the session to herself by getting up early anyway and carcinogen with some stuff around the
house.
What caused this lack of umphh?
We had what many people would call a normal weekend.
Nothing major; a few drinks and a meal out on Friday night, a busy chores day Saturday and then out for a charity night and few more drinks including a trip to Scholars and getting home
around 3am.
Our dogs didn't know we were feeling tender and still got us up for their morning walk. A lack of sleep and feeling rough from the booze meant that Sunday was technically a write off. We had planned to finish off some work in our home gym but lazed around for most of he day before we met friends for a pizza in the evening, no alcohol was consumed then.
I hate feeling rough and it's the main reason I don't really drink alcohol anymore.
I was a little more grumpy than usual because I fell down the stairs on Friday and hurt my back. This was in the afternoon and pre-alcohol. The good news is that I didn't break my spider-man mug in the fall :)
I was due to start heavy training today
with Sam and the fall meant I couldn't really push as hard as I wanted. I still did most of the session though with some adaptations and this inspired Fran to join us in the gym and get some serious work done on the VersaClimber (brutal).
She felt brilliant and really proud of herself for completing it when she had made excuses earlier in the day.
If you are struggling to find the motivation to do exercise or even eat better. Start with a small daily change, just a lap of the block or adding an extra portion of vegetables on to your plate.
Don't feel guilty about missing sessions or screwing up your food, just accept it and move on with your day. Trying to add something in where possible, however small.
Being part of a group of like-minded people with similar goals helps too. It's one of the reasons Fran has managed to get to bootcamp over the past 2 months, she enjoys training with our members more than she hates getting up early.
