Don't lose weight

Published: Wed, 11/05/14

I have had lots of conversations this week about the semantics of weight loss and why it is important.

When you lose your car keys, you try and find them.  If you lose some money at the races, you are disappointed.  If you lose £20 out of your wallet, you try and find it.

We are pre-programmed to be disappointed when we lose something and try our hardest to find it again.

Yet when we lose 20lbs of fat and find it again we are disappointed, so disappointed that we generally try and find a few more of its mates to keep it company and make it harder to lose.

Like attaching one of those big key-rings that bleep and flash to your keys so they're harder to lose.

Stop trying to lose weight and simply change the words you use.  You're getting rid of some weight, when you get rid of something you generally don't want to see it again.

The words we use to ourselves are much more important than you can imagine.  Our self-talk can help or hinder any goal we have, change the language you use to yourself to improve your chance of success.

P.S.  Todays November Man challenge is a nice one as it's so late:
Lie down, place you hands on your belly and breath in to your hands, Feel your tummy rise as you breathe in and fall as you breathe out, take your time 4 seconds in each direction.
30 breathes.
