It's not nice to hear it, if people call you fat you instantly get defensive and give yourself reasons to justify why while thinking of something as hurtful to say back.
Nobody is fat. Obviously we have an obesity issue in this country but as far as I'm aware, there isn't a single living person that is 100% pure body fat. There are
many that are carrying too much fat for their own health and wellbeing but they are more than just fat.
I don't believe in pussy-footing around the issue and talk quite frankly with our members about changes they need to make. However, I don't think it's acceptable to give labels. We don't call people hair or bone although they are body parts in the same way.
The only body part that seems to be correct to call someone is a knob but the context is usually different.
Rightly or wrongly, people are judged by their appearance and size. The most harmful judges though are often themselves.
We see it regularly on social media and overhear conversations in pubs or restaurants.
People telling others that they are fat or ugly or anything else that puts themselves down.
Our bodies hear our thoughts and feelings, that may sound a bit tree huggy but it's true. You can't transform your physique overnight by thinking more positively about it, you do need to make a start though.
So many people knock themselves down that
nobody else needs to bother. You have positive aspects that others only dream of, you just need to appreciate them.
It's not easy, nothing worth doing is. Just do it, start focusing on your positives rather than your negatives. Little by little you will see and feel a difference.
Fran has recorded another quick video about how she hated her
body during our 5 years of failed fertility treatment and what she did to get over it. Fran has a great body to look at but it wasn't the appearance that she hated, it was the way it functioned.
