This email isn't about the amount of personal information I share through these emails; although it could be in the past 6 weeks I've mentioned morning glory, fertility treatment, hormone issues, disordered eating, big pants, baggy pants and no pants at all.
It's about the amount of information out there about diet and fitness. I've just
googled diet and there were 480,000,000 hits; in Coventry alone there were 515,000.
How do you know what is right or wrong? What information is worth following and what is based around making a sale and more profit?
I have a fail proof method.
1. Is most of your
diet prepared from fruit or vegetables that look like fruit and vegetables? Hint, I've never seen a tin grow on a tree.
Yes - well done, you have the basics right. If you would like to achieve more, speak to an expert who can see you and go through your plan to iron out any areas.
No - Start eating food.
2. Do you need to take supplements?
a. Was the answer to 1 Yes?
Yes - There may be some supplements that help, speak to an expert that doesn't only recommend one brand.
No - Go back to one until the answer is yes. No supplement will outdo eating a generally poor diet. Raspberry ketones? Try
eating some raspberries first. Expensive pee at most. Your body needs to be working effectively before any benefit will be gained from most supplements.
3. Do you exercise?
Yes - Excellent. Does it make you feel good or like a train has hit you? You may benefit from a change in pace if you don't feel great as a general rule.
All exercise will make you feel tired at times but should ultimately give you a boost.
No - start to move more. Nothing fancy is needed, a simple walk will do wonders for your health if you aren't doing much at the minute. Build it gradually rather than diving straight in to a HIIT class or insanity dvd. If you rush your body, it will let you know.
If in
doubt, start at the beginning. We are designed as a species to eat food and move. Get that bit right and you'll be on your way.
