Don't be a d!ck

Published: Fri, 01/16/15

As a general rule I see the glass half full, I don't see the point of dwelling on stuff and looking for the negative in things.

Unfortunately, there are people in this world who create negative to make themselves feel better.

There are 2 ways of being the biggest tree in a forest:

1.  Cut all of the other trees down until you are the only one left.

2. Encourage al of the other trees to grow and flourish so they take you up to greater heights with them.

At Team Achieve, we focus on the second method.  We provide an environment for our members to succeed, where they are encouraged by each other and just given some pointers and tools to stay on track by us.

We get amazing results and it has worked well for us over the past 6 years in our bootcamps and 18 years with our 1-1 coaching.

When our members succeed at their goals, we succeed in ours.  We then encourage them to set new goals that push them to grow a little more.

This morning, I read about someone going for a run as part of their plan to complete the Coventry Half Marathon.  Rather than encouragement, they received mockery.

The "I could walk faster than that" type of comments.

There is no benefit whatsoever in this type of comment other than coming across as a d!ck.

My Mum always told me that "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all", I think she had a good point.

I don't 100% agree, I'm not one to hold back and I let people know what I think; just in a constructive, non-hurtful way that doesn't p!ss all over their achievements.

If you have a friend, family member or colleague that is trying to eat a little healthier or accomplish a fitness goal and you can't find it in yourself to offer encouragement.  Shut the f**k up and don't say anything at all.

It's hard enough to get out and exercise without feeling sh!t about it afterwards because someone has knocked down your achievement.

Be nice or be quiet.
