All you need is a little preparation.

Today is the Coventry Half Marathon; around 4000 people will be running around the streets of Coventry.

Apparently the route is a little different to last year but I can't really see any changes.  Saying that my ability to follow a road map is pretty poor :)

When I'm asked about training for a half marathon, I generally say my standard line of "you'll be alright".  Followed shortly by "if you can cover a mile with pain, you're good for 18 miles".

I truly believe anybody can run a half marathon, they just need to WANT to do it.  The WANT is the important part, at times it will hurt and it is how much you WANT to finish that will get you to the end.

Over the years Team Achieve runners have been up there with the fast runners around the 1 hour 30 minute mark, lots are aiming at the sub 2 hour goal and others just want to get to the end without stopping. We've helped them all and been proud of every single one.

Two runners in particular come to mind.

Harps who stayed ahead of the sweep up bus and was determined to finish rather than get picked up, even though many around her were waiting for the bus.  She was the last across the line that year, I actually had to convince the guys not to pack the line away, and the smile on her face and sense of achievement was worth it.

And Janet, who is running again this year.  She has had a few health ups and downs but keeps on running.  She has plenty of potential excuses not to do it but doesn't use them; she gets and makes us proud :)

You can achieve anything you WANT to, the only thing stopping you is YOU.  Then all you needs is a little preparation and that is where Team Achieve come in.

P.S. An easy one today for the Daily Lent Challenge - get outside and support the runners, especially ours, we'll have our sky blue Team Achieve wrist bands on.  If you don't live near the route go for a 3 mile walk (about an hour).

P.S.S.  It's the last day to sign up for bootcamp today, don't miss out on another 4 weeks of results - www.achievebootcamp.co.uk/application
