How Long?

How long does it take to lose 'insert random number that you think will be achieveable'?

This is one of the most common and frustrating questions we get asked.  

There isn't really a specific answer, everybody is different in terms of current weight, hormonal status, emotional status, stress level, current dietary needs, past dietary experiences, the list is endless.

One thing certainly does make a difference though.

When you start.

After having a few days off following a weekend of DIY and getting our loft and spare room finished, I noticed that the cupboard door under the sink was still on the floor.  Part of the social workers assessment of our house included having a locking door for cleaning products under the sink.  Our door wasn't actually attached.

It's been that way for about a year, a job that I told Fran I'd get done tomorrow for pretty much that whole year.  I just kept putting it off.

I'd managed to board out our loft space, fit a carpet in the spare room and fully decorate it, clear lots of stuff for charity yet I hadn't managed to fit the door.

So yesterday morning I set myself the task of getting it done.  Embarrassingly, it took less than 2 minutes to fix and that included getting my tools.

If I had only started the job a year ago, it would have been finished 2 minutes later.

It's the same with a diet and exercise plan, the sooner you get started the quicker the results will happen.

I'm a master level procrastinator but I'm trying to change.  My aim is to complete at least one job I've been putting off every 3 days.

My next one is my personal training and health coach website, following that my tax return.

Getting the jobs done last weekend ave us both a sense of achievement and gave us a little more control over the adoption process.  We're taking small steps closer to our goal and it feels good.
