Are you doing enough to stop you dying?
There's a report in the paper today that the original information about how much exercise you need to reduce your death risk is way too low.
Rather than 150 minutes of exercise per week, 30 minutes 5 days per week. You now need to aim for 450 minutes, that's a little over an hour every day.
I'm not a fan of getting health
information from the newspaper. Reporters aren't trained in science and reading reports, they are trained to write sensational articles to sell papers and advertising.
It means that people have no idea what to believe or how much to do, so they revert to the standard of doing nothing.
Here's a little summary.
Some exercise reduces your risk of early death by 20%.
150 minutes per week reduces your risk of early death by 31%.
450 minutes per week reduces your risk of early death by 39%.
The problem with the newspaper report is it doesn't mean anything at all. It doesn't even say what exercise
is.
So what's the solution?
1. Can you do the things in your daily life that you WANT to do without pain or feeling like your heart will fall out?
YES - You're doing enough.
NO - You need to do more.
What exercise do you need to do?
The
type that you enjoy and will make answer 1 a yes. Obviously I'm a little biased but our bootcamps cover the elements of exercise that make daily life easier.
We do that in just 3 45 minutes sessions per week. No long boring cardio sessions that don't offer the same results.
I've just agreed to ride from John O'Groats to Coventry in 6 weeks time, that means I need to be able to do more in my daily life that week or my legs will fall off and my lungs will explode.
Therefore, I need to get out on my bike more to prepare my legs and ass for the work that will be required during 7 days of riding
90 miles per day.
We all know when we feel fit and well, it's more just a case of how much you want to change that. We start a fresh Achieve Bootcamp in a little over a week, the link to join is below.

more' Checkley
