Where are you?

Published: Thu, 04/30/15

A simple question that can have so many different meanings.

I phone Fran to find out quite literally 'where' she is and if I need to put anything on for tea.

I ask my Kung Fu students where they are but in relation to being ready for their next level, they give an answer from 1 - 10.  10 meaning they are happy and they feel ready to go for it.  The numbers are an easy way for the kids to understand and communicate their feelings.

We can then go in to more details if we need to and coach them to a higher score.

We send are Team Achieve members 'where are you?' style messages, to see why they have missed a session and to check that they are ok.

These serve as a reminder that we are there for them and to let them know we have their back.  Also they are accountable to us and we are accountable to them.

In coaching sessions, we establish where our clients are in relation to anything we're dealing with at the time.

If we don't establish where we are, how do we know where we are going and how far there is still to go?

It is the unknown that often leads s to feeling overwhelmed, which in turn leads us to falling off the wagon.  It's safe to fall off a wagon that isn't really moving, much harder when it has purpose, direction and momentum.

That purpose and direction can only gain momentum when there is a clear direction to head in.

Life happens and the direction might need to change but that's why it's important to have a regular check in to see where you are.

Each month we do a measurements session with our Team Achieve Members, this is a great time to establish with numbers how their journey that month has gone and plan a strategy if it wasn't where they were expecting to go.

It's one of the reasons are members are so successful at maintaining their results.

Ask yourself 'where you are and where do you want to go to?', the answers might be the reason you keep hitting road blocks or are flying at the minute.

Obviously, if you need a little help, we are here.
