Bank Holiday Boozing

Published: Fri, 05/01/15

A few years ago a Bank Holiday would basically be reason to try and drink for 24 hours.

Unfortunately, my tolerance of alcohol is now so low that 24 minutes is an accomplishment.  A couple of drinks and I think I'm even funnier than I think I am anyway.

I make inappropriate comments, try to break dance and generally get pretty silly.  Regress in to being a teenager basically.

I don't have a problem with that at all.  I think I entertain people and have fun myself, so all is good.

However, I get ridiculous hangovers now.  Which is pretty much the main reason I don't really drink anymore.

I've broken holidays by being so rough from drinking wine.

There have been weeks where I've felt my brain just wasn't functioning because of a night out.

My problem is I don't know when to stop, I think a little is good so I should have more.  Then the damage is done.

So I generally just stick to a couple of beers and that's it.  I don't really do the drunk thing because I suffer so much.

I have nothing against anyone who chooses to spend the Bank Holiday on an all-dayer.  One year a group of us managed to complete 48 out of 52 Saturdays drinking for an average of 10 hours.  It was a messy year :(

If you are on a diet, getting drunk isn't great for your results.  However, if you feel that you want to have a few drinks, do so without guilt.  Enjoy it, just don't use it as an excuse to write off the rest of the weekend / week / month on poor choices.

If you suffer from hangovers, I recommend you invest in a greens drink.  They seriously reduce my hangovers when I drink now.

My preferred one for taste and quality is www.getleanwithgreens.com there are plenty on the market now, so you should be able to get one at most health stores.

Beware though, most taste crap.

Have a great Bank Holiday weekend,
