I can't run

Published: Wed, 08/05/15

A lot of people tell me that they "can't" run.

I written before about how I teach my students that can't should always be followed by "be bothered".

We can do anything we really set our minds too when we remove the 't.

On Friday, this week Team Achieve are helping our chosen charity Headway at their annual picnic in the park.  This year they are also having a '2k your way' sponsored event - http://headwaycw.org.uk/news/2k-event-picnic-park/ which we will be marshalling.

Headway supports people who have been affected by an Acquired Brain Injury, the work they do is simply amazing.  If you can help in anyway, please do; you can donate via their website - http://headwaycw.org.uk/

They group are out to prove that they "can" and will complete the 2k course.

If running is something that you would like to be able to do, we are running a coaching session on Saturday 15th August 2015.

Stuart has designed it to be able to help everybody improve their running technique.

If you have never ran before and would like to get started, this is a great place to begin.

Seasoned runners will learn some techniques to reduce injury risk and improve pace.

Changing the way I ran saved me a fortune on trainers and means hat I no longer get shin splints.  I had stress fractures at one point, although that was my own fault for ignoring my physio when she told me to hold off.

Poor technique put too much stress on my structure.  A "trainer and orthotics" specialist sold me lots of expensive trainers etc that didn't solve the problem.

Having a coaching session and focusing on my own body changed that.

Give it a go, if you like it Team Achieve members are running the Birmingham Half Marathon in October :)
