On my drive home from giving blood earlier today they were talking on the radio about a report that we all now ned to avoid processed sugar. They were recommending reducing it by at least half.
The
presenter and people phoning in spoke about how difficult it would be because of all of the hidden sugars and the need to read every label.
There is an easy way though.
Eat real food that doesn't have a label.
The stuff you get from a green grocer, there are still some out there and they are much cheaper than buying fruit and veggies from the supermarket.
They also spoke about the fact that fruit juice is high in sugar and fruit itself is high in sugar.
Again an easy fix, eat more veggies than fruit. If you juice, focus on more veggies than fruit in the
juices; also top up with extra water and a pinch of good quality salt.
If you drink juice, ideally have a fresh one where you see the stuff being turned in to the juice rather than out of a bottle.
However, juice is still a better option than soft drinks, irrespective of sugar content.
